WhatsApp Offers Telegram Like Channels With the Latest Update

WhatsApp Channels, the most awaited feature 2023, has arrived in India. Soon, it will be rolled out with the latest update for all the users. This update is a significant development towards making media sharing even more convenient with this instant messaging platform. Over 150 countries will receive WhatsApp Channels and will be able to share information exclusively.

WhatsApp Introduced Channels in Over 150 Countries

“WhatsApp Channels in India will deliver a private way for people to receive updates that matter to them. Channels are a one-way broadcast tool for admins to send text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. Channels can be found in a new tab called Updates on WhatsApp, where you’ll find status and channels you choose to follow, separate from your chats with family, friends, and communities,” reads the info provided by Meta, quoted by NDTV.

This brilliant move from Meta is focused on hyping up user interest across its multitude of social media platforms. Content creators will be able to get in touch with their audience to enhance engagement.

This mass rollout began months after it was released in Singapore and Colombia in June last year.

Channels and Chats Will Exist Parallelly

As per Meta, WhatsApp channels and chats will be separated, and followers will not see each other. Further, users will get channel recommendations based on their geo-location and user history. Emoji reactions for the messages will also be available in channels, just like chats. After the update has been released globally, every user will be able to create a channel on WhatsApp.

“The concept of channels gained popularity initially through Telegram Messenger, another instant messaging service. Telegram channels are commonly used for a variety of purposes, such as news dissemination, sharing updates from websites or blogs, promoting products or services, sharing educational content, and building communities around shared interests. They offer a convenient way to reach a large audience and share information in a structured and organized manner,” mentioned NDTV.
